Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott selected L2P as their design partner for the renovation of the firm’s existing space at 2 Liberty Place in Philadelphia. The firm has offices in several other cities through the mid-Atlantic region but wanted their Philadelphia office to reflect the local culture of the city. The original space was very dark and dated. Major goals of the project were to open up the elevator lobby, reception area and conferencing center to be inviting, bright, and reflective of a sophisticated and intelligent law firm. The majority of the project budget was dedicated to the renovations of the main entry and reception. The balance of the staff workspace was minimally renovated.
New paint, carpet and lighting was installed to maintain the fresh, bright and modern design aesthetic created in the reception area. Additional goals for the project included creating a more inviting and usable café space, relocating the mailroom to increase efficiency and addressing storage concerns that existed throughout the space.
The final design of the space achieves all project goals. The initial construction documentation package came in below the tenant’s allowance, allowing the team to creatively allocate additional funds to new toilet room finishes, new millwork at several existing locations and to create an upgraded elevator lobby on the secondary floor.
